Flavour Tasting Days
The Chalmers Italian variety source blocks are a unique and mind boggling resource for the Australian wine industry. In the past the gates have been flung open with invitation extended to the entire industry from grape and wine production to hospitality, to visit the Chalmers vineyard during the vintage period and taste through the incredible array of different grapes in the mother block.
The first Chalmers Vineyard Flavour Tasting Day was held in 2007 with a second one in 2009 – auspiciously on Black Saturday where vineyard temperatures reached 47 degrees. Industry luminaries from far and wide attended and were amazed at how many of the Mediterranean grapes were holding up in the intense heat.
d to continue to hold these Varietal Flavour Tasting events at their Merbein vineyard in future. Check out the ABC Landline’s story on the 2009 event here.
