Description
As awareness of our environmental impact grows, Mother Block wines are guided by a simple idea: make better wine by growing the right varieties in the right place—and do it with a lighter footprint. From our sustainably farmed Mother Blocks in Merbein (Murray Darling), where the Chalmers family has championed Italian grape varieties suited to warm, dry conditions, we’re always looking for practical ways to reduce impact without compromising quality. That’s why packaging matters. The wine industry has long relied on heavy glass, but lighter options can help cut transport emissions and waste. In this piece, we explore why alternative formats—like wine pouches—are being considered as a smarter, more sustainable choice for wines like Mother Block.
Mother Block White Blend is a co-fermented blend pulling the best qualities from six climate-apt varieties, Grechetto, Ansonica, Falanghina, Vermentino and Garganega. The grapes are pressed and co-fermented on full solids. Wild ferment takes place and once dry, sees maturation in stainless steel with 6 months on fine lees.
Crisp and refreshing, it shows tangy lemon sorbet, zesty passionfruit, zingy pineapple and flourless almond cake. It tantalizes the taste buds with the same mix of fruits on the nose, coupled with flourless lemon almond texture to a classic dry white wine in style.
