Chalmers Nero d’Avola 2024

$29.00

  • Description

Description

Imported by the Chalmers family in 2001, that one little vine which was brought in has evolved into more than 200,000 vines planted all over Australia and is doing great things. It’s really found a synergy with the red soils of Heathcote, particularly in the top block where it is more rocky with distinct showings of basalt, shale, sandstone, dolerite, quartz and limestone.

The winemaking is simple, whole berry to capture all that bright fruit the Nero has to offer, wild ferment in stainless steel to keep it clean and precise, natural malo, no fining and aged on lees for 8 months. In the glass it’s energetic and juicy with  berry compote, liquorice, new leather and black olive tapenade, its mouth watering and crunchy with a fine gravel like texture and finish. Time to grab a lamb shawarma or a classic Italian meatball pasta.
