Aglianico has always been close to our hearts with its personality and zest for producing excellent wines, and doing it without complaining while tackling the warm Australian climate conditions.
The Chalmers Project Aglianico Bambino, was initially pegged for our top Chalmers Aglianico wine but during the classification tasting we saw something immediately drinkable and delicious straight out of barrel. Super limited, we bottled a small parcel of this to show people that Aglianico doesn’t necessarily need to be aged for 5-10 years before drinking but can be enjoyed fresh young and juicy.
As noted by Jeffrey Porter, international judge at the 2023 Australian Alternative Varieties Wine Show, he was blown away by the complexity but also the immediate juiciness and fun aspect of the wine.
